Liens
A lien is used when the insurer requires that the case be completed before medical payments will be issued. During the case, our office will hold our bills in abeyance, awaiting payment. The patient is required to sign a lien allowing the insurer to pay the doctor directly for services rendered once the case is completed. |

Medpay
Medpay is an option on auto policies and may have been in effect for the car you were injured in. The dollar limit for these policies varies wildly and may be exhausted quickly if a trip to the ER was made. Let our office help you sort out if this is an option. |

New 2009 Medpay Statute
Beginning January 2009, there is a new Colorado statute mandating all auto renewals to provide minimum $5000 Medpay benefit. You will have to opt out by signing something with your insurer if you do NOT want this benefit. So if you are injured after this statute takes effect and after your first renewal, chances are you will be covered in our office. There is a priority level whereby ER’s and trauma centers get first priority on having their bills paid. But after the first 30 days, the benefit may be used by any licensed provider. |
